NMA Applauds Progress on Permitting Reform

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Mining Association (NMA) today released the following quote from Rich Nolan, President and CEO of the NMA, on the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act:

“We are undeniably in the age of demand – from energy to semiconductors, drones to transmission lines – and securing robust supplies of the mined materials that allow us to build, manufacture and power almost everything is key to meeting this moment. Standing in our way is a permitting process mired in duplication, endless litigation and uncertainty that has hobbled U.S. competitiveness with the second longest timeline in the world to bring a mine online. Our elected officials on both sides of the aisle have long acknowledged that the status quo cannot continue. We applaud the work that has been done to date and urge Congress to pass commonsense, much-needed reforms that will benefit all Americans.”
